To promote the Sacred tradition, Sacred Scripture and the living Magisterium of the Catholic Church, through the sale of books, multi-media and other materials. To help Catholics to a better understanding of their Faith, to defend it and to cultivate the good habit of reading.
Who We Are
Veritas Catholic Books and Gifts was opened on October 4, 1994 in the Brewery Market on Lower Water Street. Since then it has undergone several re-locations until finding the present location at 30 Farnham Gate Rd. for our main store. We also have another location in Truro which can be found in the old Chapel of Immaculate Conception Church.
From the very beginning the Veritas Society was incorporated in Nova Scotia as a non-profit corporation. It was also registered as a charity with Revenue Canada which means donations to the Society are tax deductible.
Veritas Catholic Books and Gifts is run entirely by generous volunteers under the protection and support of an elected Board of Directors. Veritas Society receives its spiritual direction from Father Pio Libby, moderator of the Franciscans of Halifax.
